Abstract

Education can be defined as a field of study that deals mainly with methods of teaching and learning in schools. These educational processes which involves teaching and learning should be keenly looked into, one of such include assessment. In education, the term assessment refers to the wide variety of methods or tools that an educator uses to evaluate, measure and document the academic readiness, learning progress, skill acquisition or education needs of students. Assessment can generally be defined as the systematic collection, review and use of information about educational programmes and services for the purpose of quality improvement, planning and decision. Such assessment can be in any of these three categorized domains of education which include cognitive (thinking), the affective (social/emotional/feeling), and the psychomotor (physical/kinesthetic) domain. It should be noted that the rate of unemployment in our educational system has increased to a greater height. Our educators should be concerned about the increase in the number of the unemployed graduates. This, inspired the topic of this paper: Assessment of students in educational domains for employability in the new normal. This paper focuses on: assessment, educational domains, categories of the educational domains, methods of assessment, educational domains’ theories, implications for learning, new normal, conclusion and recommendations. Hence the writers find it fit for a change in the traditional method of assessing students in the educational domains for employability and global competitiveness in the new normal.
