Abstract
The main purpose of the study was to investigate the strategies for value re-orientation on the contribution of Vocational and Technical Education for national development in Anambra State. Two research questions guided the study. The study adopted the descriptive research design. The population of the study comprised 228 lecturers of Vocational Educators in the Department of Vocational Education from four public Tertiary Institutions in Anambra State, Nigeria. The instrument for data collection was a structured questionnaire by the researcher. The instrument was validated by three experts in Vocational Education. The instrument was subjected to a pilot test The application of the Cronbach Alpha reliability on the instrument yielded coefficient values of 0.87 and 0.88 for clusters 1 and 2 respectively with an overall reliability co-efficient of 0.86. Mean and standard deviation were used to answer the research questions. The findings of the study revealed that Vocational and Technical Education contributes to national development in Anambra State by developing a skilled workforce, encouraging innovation, fostering entrepreneurial skills and creating employment opportunities. The findings further revealed that the strategies for value re-orientation on the contribution of Vocational and Technical Education for national development in Anambra State include establishing partnerships, integrating values, increasing government investment, and utilizing media to promote the importance of vocational education. The researchers therefore recommended that the Federal, State and Local government authorities should map out a national policy to promote value-re-orientation on the need for development of Vocational and Technical Education for National Development.
