VALUE RE-ORIENTATION AND REDUCING INSECURITY AMONG YOUTHS: THE ROLE OF BUSINESS EDUCATION
Abstract
This study examined business education as a catalyst for fostering positive value-orientation among youths in Nigeria. By instilling principles of ethics, integrity and social responsibility in youths, business education programme could help cultivate a culture of proper business management, accountability, entrepreneurship, marketing and so on in the business sectors, thereby contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the country. Furthermore, this paper examined the current state of business education highlighting its strength and shortcomings in addressing value-orientation and insecurities. It proposed practical strategies and recommendations for enhancing the effectiveness of business education curricula to better equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate complex socio-economic landscape of the country. By promoting a value re-orientated approaches business education could empower individuals and organizations to create suitable value, reduce spate of insecurities, and contribute to the economic and social development.
