Classwide peer tutoring (CWPT) is an instructional approach that engages all learners  in  a  classroom  and  it increases  proficiency  in  the  teaching  and learning  process.    It encourages   active  participation  of students  and  also designed   to  supplement   traditional  instruction  method   of  teaching.   The study  sought  to  determine   effect  of  classwide  peer  tutoring  on  business education   students’  academic  performance   in  spreadsheet  for sustainable development in universities in South-East,  Nigeria. Two research  questions guided the study and two null hypotheses  were tested at 0.05 level of significance. The  study  was  quasi-experimental research  which  specifically used   the   pretest,   posttest   non-equivalent   control   group   design.   The population  of the study was 22 business  education  students  offering Office Technology   and   Management    (OTM)  from   three   universities   offering business  education  in Anambra  State  and  census  survey  sampling  (entire population)  was used. The purposive  sampling technique  was used to select Anambra  State  out  of the  five states  that  made  up  the  South-East.  The experimental group had 11 OTM students (4 males and 7 females) while the

control  group  contained  22  OTM students  (6 males  and  16  females).  The academic  records  of the  students  were  used  in collecting the  information regarding  the students.  Spreadsheet Achievement  Test (SAT) developed  by the researcher  using 400L past questions between 2019 to 2022 was used as research instrument. The face and content validity of SAT was established by three   experts,   one   expert   in  the  Measurement   and   Evaluation   unit  of Department  of Educational Foundations, two from Vocational Education department both  in the  Faculty  of Education,  Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Campus.  SAT was administered  to students  in both  experimental  and   control  groups.   Test-retest  method   was  used  to establish  the  reliability  of  the  instrument   and   data   were  analysed   with Pearson  Product  Moment Correlation  coefficient which yielded 0.84.  Mean was used to answer the research questions while analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used  to test the  hypotheses.  The  SPSS  version  21.0  was used for analysis. Findings revealed that using classwide peer tutoring instructional mode enhances  business education  students’ (OTM option) academic   achievement   in  spreadsheet  when   compared   with  traditional teaching   method.   Based   on   the   findings  of  the   study,   the   researcher concluded  that classwide peer tutoring instructional mode has the capacity of improving    business    education     students’    academic     performance     in spreadsheet. It was  therefore  recommended among  others,  that  classwide peer  tutoring  instructional mode  should  be  formally adopted by  business education   teachers   in  universities  for  teaching   spreadsheet  to  improve academic  achievement  of low achieving students.
